Poker Quick-Start

All card games have a set of rules that govern them and the rules are very simple to learn. There are thus many interesting card games varying in their rules. The many card games have existed for many years and the regulations that are followed in each game may vary depending on factors such as religion, the cultures of that area and even depending on the individual or group perceptions of the people playing the game.

Back to basics

The basics behind the major card games is the set of cards that are used called the deck of cards. These are a set of playing cards that are printed on both sides. The face of the set of cards is either printed in identical numbers or in different numbers that usually isolate each card’s uniqueness. The back sides of the cards are usually printed in an indistinguishable single image that is similar for all the cards in a set of cards. This helps the players to hide the values of their cards from other players. In most cases the standard number of cards in a deck of cards is fifty two. In other places around Europe, the values on the deck of cards are lacking such as numbers two to eight are sometimes missing making some decks of cards have forty eight cards whereas there are others that have seventy eight cards in one deck of cards.

The simple rules that give a person interested in poker a quick start, are very simple to learn. Poker is a one of the many card games that are played and the main unique factor that makes poker unique is the way the cards are dealt. Dealing is the art of distributing the cards among the players ensuring that each player gets a fair chance of winning without other players knowing the cards that other players receive. Poker is plaid for a bet, each participating player giving a small amount of money and the player who wins takes the whole amount of money, called the pot. In casinos, there is a token that rotates among the players that determines the player who gets a chance to play called the dealer token. It mainly rotates in a clockwise rotation indicating the nominal dealer.

Placing bets

Each player is forced to make a bet after which the dealer shuffles the decks of cards that they have in hand and gives a certain number of cards to each player. This is followed by a series of rounds through which the players try to eliminate each other the winner standing to win the pot. At the end of the betting round, there is a showdown in the case where more than one player wins. They are expected to reveal the cards that they had kept hidden throughout the game and the one with the better poker hand wins the game. There are different types of poker that are available for the sake of making the game more interesting. Stud poker is a game where some cards are dealt facing down, called streets and others are dealt facing upwards. The betting rounds then follow and the game proceeds. The other variations of poker include draw poker, community card poker, and strip poker, where the loser of a bet removes part of their clothing.
